BLR began publishing for the Human Resources field with a newsletter for HR managers, then gradually expanded into other areas, such as How to Hire the People You Need Without Discriminating and What Every Employee Should Do About Sexual Harassment.

In 1985 BLR launched one of its most ambitious products - What to Do about Personnel Problems in [Your State]. The state-specific series is designed to help HR managers stay in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws. Currently it is used by over 100,000 companies, and the series is the only one of its kind. It helps subscribing companies stay in compliance in human resources regulations, compensation, and employee benefits.

Today BLR covers a wide array of Human Resources products to fit the many needs of the HR professional. Products include the 10-Minute HR Trainer, offering prewritten training in less than 10 minutes, and SalarySearch, a CD product that determines salary levels at the touch of a button.

Environment
BLR provides a state-specific reference guide for environmental professionals with its Environmental Compliance in [Your State]. The series covers all environmental issues from asbestos monitoring to hazardous waste. BLR also publishes the Environmental Manager's Compliance Advisor, a bimonthly newsletter that provides EHS managers the latest environmental changes in a quick-read format.

Recently BLR announced Super-Reg™ Environmental Compliance in [Your State] Version 2.0., a CD-ROM reference that was developed to make the environmental manager's job easier by providing plain-English explanations of federal and state laws, compliance advice, strategies, and more.

Safety
BLR's involvement in workplace safety dates from 1985, when the federal government's "Right-to-Know" law became effective. BLR responded to this important new requirement by publishing the OSHA Compliance Advisor newsletter and the three-volume OSHA Compliance Encyclopedia, as well as pocket guides and posters on safety topics and other critical workplace issues.

Today BLR offers a variety of safety products designed to provide Safety Managers effective OSHA-required training tools. Products include Safety Training Presentations, offering customized training in PowerPoint® and the 7-Minute Safety Trainer, providing prewritten training in 7 minutes flat.
