Do you know the new federal employment laws and regulations that go into effect in 2008, as well as the impact of recent court decisions?
Here’s a tougher question: Are you 100 percent confident that you’re ready to comply with them?
Many HR managers and employers struggle to stay informed about the legal changes that usually come with a new calendar year. In 2008, you’ll be facing difficult new challenges in the family and medical leave arena, continuing confusion with employee benefits such as health savings accounts and retirement plans, a completely redesigned I-9 immigration form, and more aggressive attempts by federal authorities to root out misclassified employees.
During this 90-minute audio conference recording, our experts – both experienced employment law attorneys – will explain in plain English what’s coming down the road in 2008 with federal employment laws, regulations, and court decisions. You’ll learn how to gauge the impact of these new rules on your workplace, as well as practical steps you can take immediately to ensure that you’re complying as required. We’ll discuss the most recent federal court rulings on topics such as pay bias and overtime. And, you’ll have the chance to ask our experts questions (by e-mail or over the phone) so that you can protect your organization against unforeseen legal risks and liabilities.
You and Your Colleagues Will Learn:
- Which HR-related laws and regulations will change in the United States for 2008 and beyond (as well as effective strategies for complying with the new rules)
- How you can prepare for the expected onslaught of federal (and state) enforcement action on misclassified employees, given the new IRS information-sharing deals with tax collectors in more than 2 dozen states
- Why new “family responsibility discrimination” claims may be just the tip of the iceberg in dealing with family and medical leave concerns in 2008
- What you can expect in 2008 with the brand-new I-9 procedures (and the types of problems employers have already reported with the redesigned form!)
- The impact of recent federal legislation and regulations on your employee benefits, ranging from health savings accounts to pension and retirement plans
- The 2007 federal court decisions that will change the way you manage employees
- What the 2008 elections could mean for employers in terms of future developments in U.S. employment laws and rules
