Managing Within the Law for Supervisors: Ensure They Comply with the Laws That Affect Your Workplace

Managing for Supervisors Audio Conference and CD - May 22

Many supervisors enjoy the “managing” part of their jobs – hiring the best people, interacting with their workers, and motivating them to succeed at what they do. What causes the most headaches for supervisors (and for you, the HR professional) is the “complying” part of their jobs – understanding employment laws and regulations and ensuring that their organizations follow these rules.

Mastering (and staying up to date on) state and federal requirements is definitely a full-time job in itself. If your supervisors make a mistake, even a well-intentioned one, your company could face expensive and embarrassing penalties and fines.

Don’t take this chance. Bring your supervisors along for our 90-minute audio conference on May 22, when our speaker – an experienced employment law attorney – will cover the basic legal do's and don’ts in the areas your supervisors deal with on a regular basis. From hiring and interviewing applicants, to complying with wage and hour rules, to handling leave requests, to preventing discrimination and harassment, and to disciplining or terminating workers, they’ll learn what they can – and cannot – do in your workplace. Plus, you’ll all have the chance to submit your own questions via phone or e-mail.

You and your supervisors will learn:

  • The most common legal errors supervisors make – and how yours can avoid repeating them
  • The best practices your supervisors should apply when interviewing and hiring workers
  • How your supervisors can avoid running afoul of the wage and hour rules and setting up the perfect conditions for a costly class action
  • What supervisors must know about the federal family and medical leave and pregnancy discrimination regulations
  • How your supervisors can consistently apply the anti-discrimination and harassment prevention rules in your workplace
  • The legal bases your supervisors need to cover when disciplining and terminating employees

How Do Audio Conferences Work?

An audio conference is remarkably cost-effective and convenient. You participate from your office, using a regular telephone. You have no travel costs and no out-of-office time.

Because the conference is live, you can ask the speakers questions—either on the phone or via e-mail.

With your registration, you also receive conference materials, with additional practical information from Business & Legal Reports, sent to you via e-mail shortly before the conference.

Why You Can Sign Up to Attend This Event with Confidence

As with all Business & Legal Reports products, you're completely protected. If, for any reason, you are unsatisfied with this audio conference, simply let us know, and we will return your entire registration fee.
