In the past, the organization chart was simple: HR hired and fired employees, while payroll issued their checks and deducted their taxes.
Now, the rules have changed - and HR and payroll must work together seamlessly to handle the pressures of today’s complex employee benefit structures and new federal and state employment laws. From family and medical leave requests to flextime schedules, vacation and PTO balances to pension plan contributions, cafeteria plans to paycheck garnishments, things have gotten much more complicated.
You may not want to play nicely together – HR and payroll are often at logistical and philosophical odds – but if you don’t, you’re missing out on efficiencies that could both make your job easier and save your organization a tremendous amount of time and money, especially in today’s tough economy.
Order this practical 90-minute webinar recording, where you will learn:
- The new ways that HR and payroll concerns overlap-and what that means for your organization in practical and legal terms
- How payroll is affected by your employee benefits these days (and who’s responsible - HR or payroll - for tracking and managing your workers’ benefits data)
- What new federal and state employment laws have forced changes in the way payroll operates today
- How you can audit your current HR and payroll policies to maximize efficiencies without adding extra costs
- The steps you can take to mesh payroll, HR, and benefits data if you’ve outsourced part (or all) of these functions
