Compensation 101: Master the Basics of Compensation (and Prepare for 2010’s Pay Trends)

Compensation 101 Webinar Recording

For many employers and HR directors, the word “compensation” means only one thing: the mechanics of payroll. If your workers receive their checks on time, and the amounts are correct, then you may never give compensation a second thought.

But given the topsy-turvy economy, you can’t afford to ignore the growing impact of compensation trends and troubles on your workforce:

  • Already, you’ve wrestled with many basic issues such as setting raises and bonuses in the middle of a recession.
  • Now, you also have to stay on top of touchy challenges such as rewarding top performers while satisfying demands from other workers for cost-of-living increases.
  • Plus, you must master the art of keeping compensation costs under control, tracking the latest base pay/range adjustment/incentive trends for employees across all levels – without knowing for sure where the economy is going in 2010 and beyond

As the paths of HR and compensation continue to cross, you’ll need a solid foundation in the basic do’s and don’ts to stay afloat. Oder this practical 90-minute webinar recording, where our expert speaker – one of the first professionals in the United States to earn the compensation field’s highest certification – will cover the following topics:

  • The most important everyday basic rules of compensation that you’ll need to know in today’s workplace
  • Key strategies for making 2010 compensation decisions when you’re facing shrinking pay budgets and an uncertain economy
  • The steps you can take right now to review your existing compensation plans and benchmark them against those of your peers and competitors
  • What the experts are saying about 2010 compensation trends across the country for pay raises, bonuses, and other compensation factors (and, indeed, whether there’s any consensus at all right now)
  • Tips for rewarding your key employees without breaking the bank for everyone else
  • What you should do–by the end of this year, and throughout 2010–to communicate with your employees and reduce their anxiety about pay issues
  • How to prepare your organization for compensation pressures and decisions that will surface when the economy finally turns around

This webinar was recorded on Wednesday, October 14, 2009
